Their <strong>multifunctional app<\/strong> is designed <strong>to help restaurateurs optimize their time, reduce food waste<\/strong>, and digitize the many often tedious administrative tasks.<\/p>\n<p>We had the opportunity to talk with the co-founders to better understand their journey, vision, and the future of GastronomIA.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SCtiz1rXNZA?si=YeV1r_1RVZY4Pq5i\" width=\"100%\" height=\"540\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>A meeting of complementary expertise\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Julien l&rsquo;Eplattenier comes from the world of gastronomy, with experience in event catering and culinary services. Kim Chiquet, on the other hand, is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 12 years of experience in information technology. Together, they created GastronomIA, <strong>an application designed to transform restaurant management by simplifying daily processes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Our app helps restaurateurs save time by digitizing everything currently done on paper: orders, notes, recipes, employee files, and more,\u00a0\u00bb explains Kim.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>A solution designed for professionals<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>GastronomIA is not just a simple management app<\/strong>. It has been <strong>specifically designed for restaurant professionals<\/strong>. \u00ab\u00a0Nothing as comprehensive exists to date,\u00a0\u00bb says Julien. The application brings together all essential tasks on a single platform, accessible via phone or computer.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0We enable chefs to manage their administrative tasks wherever they are, whether on the bus or between shifts,\u00a0\u00bb adds Kim. The app also provides tools for generating visuals, optimizing recipes, planning menus, and managing client communication on social media.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Challenges in implementation\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>The idea for GastronomIA was born after years of observing the challenges faced by restaurateurs<\/strong>. However, implementing such a platform was not without obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Convincing people of the usefulness of such an application in a traditional sector was not easy,\u00a0\u00bb confides Julien.<\/p>\n<p>The duo also had to find skilled developers capable of meeting the specific demands of the project. \u00ab\u00a0We were fortunate to work with a team of young developers, one of whom was familiar with the restaurant industry, which greatly facilitated development,\u00a0\u00bb recalls Kim.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Why Neuch\u00e2tel?\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The decision to base GastronomIA in Neuch\u00e2tel came naturally, thanks to the <strong>strong networks the co-founders had in the region, especially in gastronomy<\/strong>. Julien and Kim also benefited from the support of GastroNeuch\u00e2tel, a key local partner, and guidance from the Service of the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Neuch\u00e2tel offered us a network and support we wouldn\u2019t have found elsewhere,\u00a0\u00bb emphasizes Kim. Julien adds, \u00ab\u00a0For a startup, networking is essential, and Neuch\u00e2tel is a place where this network can truly make a difference.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>An ambitious vision for the future\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In five years, GastronomIA plans to expand beyond Switzerland. \u00ab\u00a0After consolidating our presence in French-speaking Switzerland, we aim to expand into Germany and Italy, with the ambition of becoming a major European player in digital restaurant management,\u00a0\u00bb Kim reveals. The app is already multilingual and ready to conquer the international market.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>A crucial collaboration\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The co-founders agree that their collaboration with Service of the economy was crucial. \u00ab\u00a0Initially, we weren\u2019t aware of all the available support, but thanks to our network, we accessed resources that significantly accelerated our project development,\u00a0\u00bb says Julien.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Neuch\u00e2tel as a FoodTech Hub?\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to Kim, Neuch\u00e2tel has much to offer entrepreneurs but still has progress to make in communicating the available support and opportunities for tech startups.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Neuch\u00e2tel could become a hub for FoodTech, attracting more investment and talent,\u00a0\u00bb he suggests.
